Moody Monday (A Discord Between Sisters)

A Discord Between Sisters

I have been understood and misunderstood.

I have done the same.

I’m not sure how to fix any of it

It certainly cannot be changed.

People suggest;

“moving on” or “going from here”

But that does not fix the hurt

or change the memories.

I think you must accept the hurt

and forgive the lack of understanding.

Revisiting old wounds

does no good.

Strive to do better,

be better.

That is my promise.

That is what I will do.

I am happily married to Jeff. We are full-time RVers. We have two Goldendoodles; Dora and Dezzie. I have had Fibromyalgia for over 20 years and have learned a few tricks to deal with it, but it is my stone in the road! I am a Fibromyalgia Advocate. I have co-authored a book, The Shadow Boxers, Fighting Fibromyalgia (your personal journal.) It is available on Amazon and on my blog. I enjoy making Tribe Bracelets, also available now on my blog. Stone in the Road is another blog of mine where I post a collection of stories by bloggers that I follow.

  1. Lovely poem!!! Totally relate.
And there are a few phrases I think should be banished: ‘get over it’ and ‘I told you so’ are at the top. There are a few rare occurrences and ways it can be put and said where this isn’t grating on me and is genuinely loving/helpful; but usually someone says to ‘move on’ or ‘get over it’ I do not, in fact, get over a thing (I just hide that I’m not over it yet from them!)– and I no longer share my dilemmas with that person. If I can’t avoid them, as in the case of family I still want to be in touch with — then I do start to avoid being ‘real’ with them; I start to give them the platitudes and fake responses they are looking for and we go on our merry (fake relationship) way where they are oblivious that anything is amiss and I am actively seeking out people with whom I can complain, be real, and not be told another ‘knew better’ than me all along!! ❤️

    1. Yes, that is what has happened. I’m still trying to get over the tight knit loss of those relationships… never thought it’d come to this. I am now accepting that the hurt is just water under the bridge. The reality is to maintain family contact without being emotionally invested. Tough! Healthier to just let it be. But still miss those relationships so much! Dang. xk

    1. Suzanne, as it should be! I do think at times, each persons point of view drastically varies. You are never going to get or give an adequate apology to heal the hurt. The hurt remains but the clock keeps ticking… I believe in agreeing to disagree as each is entitled to their own opinion, even if I disagree with it. Whew… it can tear a person apart, dwelling on this ‘stuff’ and it is only ‘stuff.’ Thank you Suzanne!😊💜
