Preparing for Closure.

Hello.

It has always concerned me when people leave the blogosphere without a goodbye. I want to say, my process to prepare for the closure of my blog is now underway. I am beginning my goodbye.

My mom died on Father’s Day of this year, 2020. She was 79. The hubby and I are currently in Seattle. I had purchased a plane ticket to fly home, but we are not allowed to have a funeral. COVID-19. We are not allowed to gather… etc.

I watched two televised funerals, men who died during altercations with the police. Both funerals were quite spectacular, attended by so many people! Important people.

My mom was not in an altercation with the police when she died. So we will quietly bury her in our small town cemetery with no official service, very few attendees, no important people.

There is so much information out there about Fibromyalgia Syndrome. New and exciting information. I follow many amazing bloggers! They are knowledgable and up to date! I am not in a place to bring more information to you, I’m just trying to survive and learn all I can. Trying. Not really succeeding with new information. Not willing to try new treatments any longer that could adversely affect what little health I have left.

I don’t want to be a cynical blogger. I am becoming disillusioned by so many things, I am becoming a crabby blogger! This, in turn, affects my health in negative ways…

It’s not you, it’s me. I mean this. I have so enjoyed being a part of this community. I have been so lucky to get to know each and every one of you. My time has come though, and I am preparing to say goodbye.

How can I help you before I go? What resources can I provide you with? Please let me know. I’ll remain present for a couple more weeks but I will be saying a permanent goodbye by the 15th of this month, July 2020.

I began blogging in 2015. I have enjoyed it and hope I have been a positive person that you could read and discuss the many topics with. I wouldn’t have changed my blogging experience for anything!

(Maybe a million dollars… I’d probably take a hard look at that!)

  3. I remember mine! I was so nervous… we went to a movie, some Clint Eastwood/Dirty Harry flick, and then to the Hardees where all the cool kids hung out! It was a great first date. 

Stay Healthy On The Road? (RV Tattles #2)

***Disclaimer. I am not an expert in RVland. I just RV fulltime. Period. This is a tattletale post, entirely for fun, with a tidbit of truth you may find helpful! I love #RVlife!

(By healthy I mean eating, exercise, and lifestyle! I’m not a bodybuilder!)

How do I stay healthy on the road? (I don’t!) I have a chronic illness! ‘Healthy’ is the epitome of an enigma in my present world. But it’s time to outsmart the drudgery!

RV Eating. It feels like you are on vacation… you eat like you are on vacation… don’t do this! You are not on vacation! Portion control is your friend. By the way, so is the celery! Google it!

RV Exercising. You are in a home on wheels! Packing up every few days and moving to a new RV Park. Staying maybe a couple weeks at one site, otherwise moving and moving. This is exercise! (No, it isn’t.) Exercise increases your heart rate… I know, I know, but the truth needs to be told! Figure out how to get your heart rate up! Dance, walk, climb stairs! Just do it!

Try these awesome tunes to get your body moving. (Change up songs as you wish, these seem to work for me!)

Slowly… stretch, move those hips, and breathe!

Now, turn it up and MOVE!!! Jazz for your soul!

Finish Strong! Get those arms up and keep on clapping through the whole Booze Cruise! Yee-Haw!

Cool down, maybe take a short walk…

That is all it takes, once a day!

  1. I was trying to make those English popovers. You put gravy on them, they are yummy. So I made the batter, filled the muffin cups up with oil, and ‘popped’ them in the oven. Too much oil and too high of a temp! I had a grease fire like no other. FAIL!
  2. Full of love. I could do no wrong. I was never yelled at. I was always the most important little person in the room for them. I was safe with them. Gosh, I miss my grandparents.

National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day is May 12th!

What is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia Syndrome is a cognitive disorder that affects the central nervous system. This is a disease, and there is no cure. This disease is characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, chronic fatigue, depression, fibro fog, and fibro flares.

Fibromyalgia is a central nervous system disorder. The brain is continuously firing pain signals throughout the body. The entire nervous system fully reacts, becoming oversensitive to everything around us! Responding to this unpleasant stimulus, known as “noxious stimuli” is what a person with fibromyalgia feels. Lights are too bright, smells are overpowering, noises are too irritating, heat is too hot, cold is too cold, and touch is too painful.  Happy Birthday, Fibromyalgia…?

Chronic fatigue felt by a person with fibromyalgia is never-ending, even after a full night’s sleep. (Stay awake for three days, doctors report this is what the fatigue of fibromyalgia feels like every day.) Energy is fleeting. This is not just being tired and taking a nap to refresh yourself. It doesn’t matter how much sleep a person with fibromyalgia gets, exhaustion is felt throughout the day. Many individuals have sleep disorders that prevent them from obtaining a deep sleep, this adds to the fatigue already experienced by the individual with fibromyalgia. Should I Leave the Spoon Theory Behind?

Depression is common in people with fibromyalgia. It was found that a person with Fibromyalgia has lowered dopamine level production. Dopamine and the Fibro Brain.  Your sense of well-being is limited. Living with pain and fatigue, day-to-day, will also cause depression.

Fibro fog is a cognitive disorder. This is not like just forgetting someone’s name or where you put your keys, this is a dysfunction that occurs in the brain. The Fog of Fibromyalgia.

A Fibro flare is a temporary increase in pain and/or symptoms of fibromyalgia. This occurs when we over-do things, expending our energy, and at other times for no reason. This will pass, but you will experience flares throughout the entire time you have this disease. Fibromyalgia Flare! Again.

  1. I miss a restaurant that was right near my house in Minneapolis called ‘Holy Land.’ I would have a Gyro with extra cucumber sauce!!! Yummo!
  2. Just being able to walk into a store, other than Walmart… please!
  3. Empathy, kindness, and humor.

How Do You Decide What Clothes to Bring? (RV Tattles #1)

***Disclaimer. I am not an expert in RVland. I just RV fulltime. Period. This is a tattletale post, entirely for fun, with a tidbit of truth you may find helpful! I love #RVlife!

When beginning this fulltime RV life, hard decisions needed to be made. No longer could I own four different sizes of crockpots!!! My china dishes could not accompany me. The six totes I kept in the basement with ‘seasonal’ clothes would need to be sorted and … (gulp!) shoes… my shoes! My purses! ALL things would need to be paired down. I no longer could ‘keep’ that dress coat, because I had three! My leather coats… suedes, ski jackets, spring jackets… There just isn’t room to keep it all. (I am starting to get anxious just thinking about the process I had to go through!)

Do it, just do it! It is worth it, I promise.

The hubby simply gathered his favorite jeans, shorts, and graphic tees! A few pairs of shoes, sandals, and tennis shoes. Two flannels, two hoodies, a fleece jacket, and a basic warm winter coat. (And at my assistance one ‘funeral’ outfit, just like the Royals, we travel – ready for anything!) Done. No problem. Next!

To begin, the key is to pick a basic color that suits YOU.

I chose black because I spill whatever is in my hands on my clothes ALL THE TIME. I’m clumsy, too! If there is a way to fall on freshly mowed green grass, I will find it! (I’m a trooper like that!)

Your basic color plus hues that look good on you. I chose jewel tones. You may be a pastel gal with a basic khaki color. There is no wrong choice. it’s about building a wardrobe where every piece serves a purpose. (You can do it!)

  • Tees; you’ll probably buy one for every state you go to, don’t bring many tees. (You need something to shop for!)
  • Personal accessories; all I can say are scarves will be your best friend! You can dress up or down an outfit with the addition of a scarf. Scarves can protect you from the sun, be used to tie up your hair or cover up a swimsuit. The best part, easy to pack!
  • Remember to put in a ‘funeral’ outfit that is timeless and seasonless. I have a basic black jersey dress that’ll work for numerous unforeseen events. (I am not trying to be morbid, just practical.)
  • Shoes; flip flops, sandals (one dress), tennis shoes, maybe a pair of (cowboy, biker, or hiking) boots and wellies!
  • Purses; you will be setting your purse down on dirt surfaces (you’re RVing now!), just bear that in mind when you choose a few bags to bring with. Remember, EVERYTHING seems to make its way into your purse…especially on the days you move RV sites. I chose a bohemian crossbody bag. (OK. TWO, I bought two!!!) 
  • Outerwear; one light, one midweight, and one heavy jacket/coat. That is all you need. Remember to have a flannel, hoodie, and I like a cardigan option.
  • Your PJs and intimates are your business! This stuff should not take up too much space, and you’ll be fine!

You will adjust as you travel and readjust. You’ll donate what you overpacked and hit Bass outlet stores… to get sensible clothing items! Ha!

Finally, I suggest you start this whole process by pulling out a basic, one-week wardrobe. Clothes that fit, that you are comfortable in… and go from there!

What About You? (Sunday Quick Questions #48)

  1. You are in an Escape Room. The goal is to find the clues, answer them, and win your way OUT of the room! Name 2 people you want in that room with you and why!
  2. You are ready to have a lovely weekend getaway at a fabulous hotel!!! No coronavirus in site! You are offered two options for your getaway. The first option, you may have free room service breakfasts delivered to your room for your weekend OR  the second offer is 3 free drink tickets to use at your leisure. Which offer would you choose?
  3. You are stranded on the proverbial lost island with your family and maybe a few friends… but the deal is there are no electronics; cell phones, computers, game boxes, streaming services … (you know, the hardship!) You are allowed 1 board game, what do you bring and why?

  1. I’d bring Bojana and my hubby. Bojana because she’s crazy smart and the hubs because he can fix/make anything… like a skeleton key to get us out of that room!
  2. I’m getting the room service breakfasts! 
  3. I come from a board game family, so this is tough… I’d bring Sequence. Its a dice and card game, different every time, there’s a little bit of luck with every play. All good fun.

The Opioid Crisis? A Lie. Suicide Due to a Lack of Pain Management? Very Real.

All of the following information is available on many sites on the internet. The National Health Association, the World Wide Health Organization, the CDC, and etc. You should just google suicide rates. I knew as medication was withheld, my people would choose not to live. It is happening! We are losing our chronically ill brothers and sisters at an alarming rate.

The Fibromyalgia Cure? OK, Let’s Talk About This…

There is a NEW cure for fibromyalgia plastered on FaceBook! Yep. They have done it! AGAIN! Another cure for us fibro sufferers, for crying out loud! It is about time!!!  (Really?) Well, let’s talk about this…

Here is the hook…

Ok. There is a blood test called the FM/a to diagnose fibromyalgia. This is real. Your insurance, whatever that may be, will cover the cost of this blood test.

What does the FM/a test for? (Researcher-speak) This is a multi-biomarker-based test that analyzes your immune systems’ white blood cells’ chemokine and cytokine patterns. People with fibro have an irregular pattern regarding these proteins. 

What does the FM/a test for? (Kim-speak) This test measures the proteins in your body that increase when you are ill. These proteins increase your white blood cell count considerably to fight the likes of the flu, mono, infection, etc… These measurements should prove to be erratic if you have fibromyalgia.

Next, here is the theory ‘MOJO’ statement…

The theory ‘MOJO’ statement is a promise to be admitted to their clinical trial if you test positive on the FM/a blood test.

(Researcher-speak) Take the FM/a test.

(Kim-speak) Do not rule out being tested for the FM/a test, just don’t be first in case its a deciding factor in the treatment you are allowed to receive! (This is not a one-size-fits-all illness!)

The result in this proposed theory will be a cure for the incurable… AND (drumroll!) they have the ONLY cure!

Just what is this cure? It is the TB vaccine. Period. Will this work? I haven’t researched one case where it has worked. I have not studied one case where it has caused any harm. Go ahead and research the TB vaccine and see if you think it may hold promise for your ‘type’ of fibromyalgia. Go ahead and get the TB vaccine if you think it might work. Just ask your doctor to administer the TB vaccine. The cost is low, the vaccine is available. There is no need for such a cryptic message of a wonderous ‘cure!’ I trust YOU to make the best decision for YOU!

(Researcher-speak: More money…)

(Kim-speak: It’s a stupid $7 TB vaccine, get it if you want to!)
